The Quest for Identity in Norwegian-American Immigrant Narratives. Correspondences with the Romanian Immigrant Experience in America This book explores the Norwegian and Romanian immigrants' quest for identity, the difficulties it implies, the inner conflicts that appear during the assimilation process, as revealed by the immigrant narratives of the Norwegian writers Ole Edvart Rølvaag and Knut Hamsun and of the Romanian writer Anisoara Stan, each author having a different perspective on emigration. A comparison between the Norwegian and Romanian emigration to America from its beginning until the end of the Second World War will further support the idea that the problems encountered by the immigrants on their way to adapting to a new cultural environment were rather similar.Useful links
