(in loc de epilog) Under the Sign of Neptune, in Pisces…(instead of an  epilogue) The essay-study Constantin Brancusi, a sculptor from the East follows the birth and evolution of Brancusi`s work in a double context: on one side, in his formation years environment in Romania, place where the sculpture didn`t exist until the second half of the 19th century, and on the other side, in the Parisian environment, in the most spectacular period of the European modernism. The book analyses Brancusi`s transition from traditional sculpture, that of European origins, in which figurative representation plays a major part, culminating with the exceptional case of Rodin, to non-figurative sculpture, essentialized and spiritualized, in which one can find specific Eastern attitude and philosophy. In this sense, the research conclusion is that Brancusi`s works mark an unpreceded rupture in the entire history of European sculpture, and beyond, by moving the center of interest from its material aspect, from its explicit perception as mass, on its interior energy, its immateriality and implicit spirituality. The radical revolution that Brancusi`s work represents is exactly the change of view that its proposed by reevaluating the eastern perspective, non-figurative and non-discursive.
